After Israel slaughtered several Al Jazeera journalists, I asked the foreign affairs minister's office whether Canada intends to take action. Their response made me, as a journalist, feel sick. They pointed me to a tweet repost. One with a grammatical error. It didn't even name Israel:

💔 Today in Gaza, Israel targeted the home of Dr. Alaa and Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar and murdered 9 of their children. While Dr. Alaa was working to save lives, she received the remains of almost her entire family. 💔

The murder of two Israeli diplomats is horrific and an act worthy of condemnation like any injury to any non combatant. There are three takeaways here though, that if not realized and acted upon will keep the situation of the world degrading further and further. A 🧵

The murders of Israeli embassy staff in DC are devastating and wrong. This does nothing to free Palestine. It just creates more pain and anger, and it is already being used to justify further harm. I'm thinking of their loved ones today, as well as anyone hurting right now.
