To be a writer, you only have to do one thing: write. Not break into a big magazine. Not publish a bestseller. Not get an extravagant book tour. Struggling with discouragement? Rejection? Bad reviews? These are normal. They don't disqualify us. If you put words to the page, then we are peers.

For anyone who needs to hear this: life is too short to finish a book you're not enjoying. Prose is annoying you? Don't finish it. It feels like a chore to pick up and read? Don't finish it. Just not feeling it? Don't finish it. We're not in class. There won't be a test. Read for *your* enjoyment.

We have officially packed all our books...and I have someone coming to our place this week to pick up around 220 (rough estimate) that we're donating. Whew!

Yes, it's still in the 90s, but I bought a new Ghost Face vinyl figure at Costco today, and I cracked open my first pumpkin beer of the season, so it's officially fall, dammit. 🍂
