I will say re: the current discourse that I don't think OP was selling text social media short, but also as someone who wants to make a lot of video essays and only hasn't because of a lack of Action Points, there's high virtue in any forward-facing medium, offset only by where the audiences are.

So I know I've moved my writing to Obsidian, but I must say, the 2.8 update to novelWriter is kinda intriguing again--now you can repeat its special Story Structure comment format under any text, which would be perfect for keeping track of Dramatica notes if it weren't for Obsidian Bases.

The lore in Kamen Rider Zeztz is getting juicier and juicier. I was very curious how the show would pay off the motif of power coming from an evil source and this is so far very compelling. But also: how Baku gets the Plasma Capsem in this ep is exactly how I want PCs to gain abilities in my RPGs.

Ideas are so free that if my Patreon went up by just how much Bryan Walsh made writing that Vox dreck, it’d nearly triple my capacity to create more fiction, poetry, or short game content per month. How/why? Because then it’s mechanically easier to pay my expenses! Plus actually save!

Anyone who has ever met a writer (especially one with neurodivergent hyperfixations) knows that ideas are free. The tree of ideas is always laden, & there is too much windfall to eat. Maybe pay thoughtful creative people a living wage to act on their ideas instead of letting the echoing box chirp.

As an aside: name an SFF writer who has not to your knowledge published any speculative poetry, who you believe would write INCREDIBLE verse if they did. (Don't tag them--I don't want this to feel like we're coercing folks, just that you're celebrating the language skill of your faves!)

We like to joke (or complain) that the only practice for writers is writing, but that's sorta like saying scales aren't singing. There are lots of ways for writers to do studies--like rewriting scenes in other genres or tones, or even just the act of recrafting individual lines as they occur to you.

I'm only now learning more about the Horses situation and, while it is in a lot of ways dissimilar to the earlier game censorship situation, it is particularly telling how a lot of censorship overall is based on people with curatorial power being too squeamish about non-titillating content.
