One of my goals this year is to start submitting stories to pro markets. Yesterday I saw an upcoming open call that's perfect for the only short story I wrote last year. Now I just need to stare at my cover letter a few more days, do the add/remove comma ritual, & throw up after hitting send 😆

Guess who is now a member of the Brantford YMCA? 🫢 With hubby by my side, I got in the pool, in the "slow af" lane & managed to not drown for 1.1 km, that's 44 laps 🏊 🎉 I haven't swam much in my life, so let's see how this goes! A thousand thanks to hubby for always encouraging me ❤️

A howling void of a million screams, and menacing a loud voice calling from the dark, beckoning me down into the depths. A dark and sinister voice and I will resist it... unless they try to entice me with Haribo or sticky toffee pudding. My only two weaknesses. #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat A drop. The onyx black an abyss before me. It yawned and welcomed me in, the voice in the back of my head whispering warmly to me like a lover; "jump." And why not take that leap? That final plunge? What awaits? At any rate, I was tired, and death was close to sleep.

#HorrorWritersChat Water. Deep. Black. Endless. And what's worse were the sounds; splashing somewhere just out of your range of sight. And, as your heart starts to pound and you think about walking away and maybe researching plumbers, a hand pushes you off of the floor and into the inky depths.

It's not about what you saw; it's what you heard. Nothing can take your breath away quite like the sound of breathing from around the corner beneath your feet. Even with the dingy, spiderweb strewn bulbs giving off a glow. There is someone down there. They are waiting. #horrorwriterschat
