Now it's not even newsworthy. It used to be the kind of thing that would be mentioned in the comic press so we could at least notice the casual kick in the nuts again, but not anymore. Is an apathetic shrug just the baseline now?

Marvel Comics and the Marvel Universe is made and maintained by hardworking people who deserve to be acknowledged for what they've done and still do, month after month, especially when companies are directly using the comics as fuel for other media adaptation.

I remember watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and being flabbergasted that the bastards didn't even acknowledge Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson, or Ed Greenwood with even a Special Thanks. "Hasbro" did not create D&D.

Is it okay that Stan Lee and Steve Ditko also didn't get acknowledged? No. It sucks on every level. If you can credit set drivers, caterers, and personal assistants, there's room for the people who dreamed up all of it in the first place.

How is this still a thing? It's not about ownership or legal requirements, it's basic human decency. Did you make the original thing that looks like what we made and uses key pieces of its DNA? Cool. Thank you for contributing to this creative universe.

Special Thanks is the bare minimum acknowledgement of the source material, regardless of changes made for the show, and they couldn't even manage that. I do not understand how creative people can build on this stuff and not even think about how they'd feel if they were blanked out like this.

Enjoyed SPIDER-NOIR eps 1+2 and am looking forward to watching more, but it's a damn shame the creators of the Spider-Man Noir comic didn't even get a Special Thanks in the credits. David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, Carmine Di Giandomenico and designer Marko Djurdjević deserve that at the very least.
