Pain has been pretty bad lately regardless of what I do. Hilariously, being sick for a couple weeks was great because all I *could* do was sleep and it made me feel physically rested for the first time in ages. Anyway, I worry about surviving family Christmas tomorrow, but I’m gonna do my best.

I really don't like systems that force libraries to pay-per-use and I wish libraries themselves were more upfront with users about how much every movie you take out from Hoopla or Kanopy is costing the library.

Thinking about it, art teachers were always the most supportive teachers I had growing up. I spent a lot of time hiding out in art rooms through school because I was an anxious loner weirdo. Naturally, I was also making things while I was there, and being encouraged, developing skills.

It frustrates me bc this idea of making creativity “efficient” comes from capitalism & the desire to control and rush output for product(ivity). I think about how the Thriller album took 3+ years depending on the song evolution. Black Messiah took 14 years. Both Masterpieces. You cannot rush that.

Absolutely. There are any number of human artists out there who would love to draw a cover of a book. Take, for example, my book. I paid an artist (Lalou Lauzon, sadly not on Bluesky yet), superimposed some text and a logo cobbled together from clipart, and had commercial art. It's just that easy.
