I'm about 8 chapters into the audiobook of "Vaults of Terra: The Carrion Throne" by Chris Wraight. The full-cast-with-music-and-SFX audiodramas I listened to spoiled me a bit, but John Banks, the narrator, does such a phenomenal job giving each character a unique voice that I'm really enjoying this.

"'The Witcher' meets 'Howl's Moving Castle'" is certainly a pitch. I'm in.

I can understand nostalgic movies/games/books set in the 80s. I don't LIKE it, but I can sort of get it. I was extremely distressed when nostalgic stuff started getting set in the 90s. There's no way I could be that old. Yesterday I ran across a nostalgic RPG set in *2004*, and just kill me now.

Today I was backing some stuff up and on my backup drive I found a bunch of saved posts and emails from a Gothic Lolita fashion and lifestyle forum/board I used to frequent twenty years ago. It made me sad, because until it blew up in drama, that was probably the last bunch of real friends I had.

Finally finished this (it's been a busy week). And yeah, it was good. It was a teensy bit rushed feeling at the end, and doesn't tell a complete story (it leads straight into the next book after the Climactic Dramatic Twist Changes Everything), but I loved the characters and the worldbuilding.

Last night I had a nightmare that I was a little girl forced by a corporation to pretend for a day that I was the daughter of a couple whose real daughter was dead/terminally ill, because they had paid for a "'Everything Is Actually Fine' Experience" package advertised and sold by that corporation.
