The Central VA Community Support Fund raises money to pay immigration bond for individuals held in ICE detention. Since May, we've paid over $30K in bond, with a new $5K request coming in just two days ago.

I thought I'd put the administration's proposed "compact" with universities in context, so I wrote the blog post below. It's especially for journalists covering this story! Many details about how the compact itself works and why the administration has retreated to this strategy.

There needs to be a version of the serenity prayer for the wisdom to know when it's time to die on your feet vs. live on your knees. It's easy to bluster on here about what we'd have done in Nazi Germany, but we're here now, and what we're doing is what we're doing. It's hard and scary to be brave.
