Our first year married was turbulent. But once we decided that we wanted to really do the work for ourselves and each other, everything started falling into place. Some days, I’m over the moon and other days, I don’t want him in my face or breathing the wrong way around me 😂 that’s marriage.

The work we choose to do is specific to the marriage, just as much as it is to the two people involved. Sometimes that means opening up sexually, or making tough decisions and sacrifices when it comes friends/family, or literally getting extra work to provide financially.

Once you’re married, you have to decide whether you want to play house or if you want to do the work. We chose to do the work, and that means choosing each other everyday, even when we’re not happy, because chasing happiness is always a setup for failure. Grown folks know this.
