What we see here is something very common: that people treated by the media - inc the BBC - as neutral, dispassionate and reliable are actually deeply embedded in capitalism and all its myths. They are as partisan as anyone else. They sound neutral because what they say aligns with "common sense".

A few weeks ago Sinclair stood with self proclaimed neo Nazis in Bristol who waved the Union flag while chanting HH and throwing Nazi salutes. A few days later he went on to meet with Ayran Front in secret and used his platform to promote their group. Is that the "culture" people don't like?

Today, Sinclair posted a video of himself harassing a BBC videographer capturing footage of the graffiti which appeared in east Belfast after Union flags were taken down. According to him the flags were taken down because migrants who are being "brought" here don't like "our culture".

This is framed as a normal thing to say, and her credibility on financial matters simply assumed (even though her time in government saddled us with RHI debt), but saying "we need to tax the rich more" is explicitly framed as extremist, absurd, not serious.

To constantly sh*t on those who make the choice to contribute to the UK rather than somewhere else — now pushed on to such an extent that we need to prove special worth beyond that choice and contribution …. Anger is to weak a word to describe it all.

But my key point is this: Migrating to the UK was my *choice*; it was the choice to commit my skills and knowledge to the UK, not another place. Pay my tax here. Etc. Germany, on the other hand, is the place where I happened to have been born. Purely by chance.

Because it’s migration that has shaped my life more than anything and it’s actually just normal—migration is the most fundamental characteristic of being human: none of us would be where we are without it, whether we personally moved or not.

We also have a UK example of PR, in Northern Ireland. Our electoral system isn't perfect (mainly issues specific to the NI context which would not apply in Britain if it had PR) but PR does prevent the problem of "just two big parties", and smaller parties of the left can and do grow with time.

In my view, what Labour should be doing is: - Stop any form of austerity and invest. I am not one for 3-word slogans, but it really has to be 'Invest, invest, invest.' That is literally the only answer that will really make a difference here.

The US provides the most advanced case of what that can lead to. It is worth remembering that Farage could not even bring himself to criticise Trump's comments on paracetamol. I strongly urge everyone *not* to assume that this type of escalation cannot happen here - it already is in some areas.
