When the world goes to shit, people do step up. When that happens and you've been busting your ass for years you can either be mad they didn't do it earlier, or you can be proud that you helped lay out a path and recognize that your role is to guide a new leader into their role.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say that how Harvard and the economics profession respond to Larry Summers will determine who makes up the next generation of economists.

Socialist Majority believes in a majoritarian movement for democratic socialism: we work together toward a bigger and unified DSA. We support the updated NYC-DSA dues page and applaud our SC members for voting to ensure there is only one standard of membership: national dues.

Tascha is a working-class hero. Kudos to
@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social
and his campaign for always highlighting the importance that field organizing plays in building the majority we need.

Tascha gave so many people the courage to knock that first door, make that first call and build the bridges with our neighbors that got us this far. Together, we fought for a city for all of us. Now, we’ll build a City Hall for all of us.

Trump wants us to believe he's unstoppable But social scientists have found that 52% of all attempts to build autocracies are relatively quickly reversed by democratizing "U-Turns" — and, within the last 30 years, this number has risen to 73%

Philly is getting 15 new extended-day, extended-year schools
Mayor Cherelle L. Parker said people had been “confused” about what year-round school means. It’s not 365 days of school, but traditional school with extra child care and enrichment on breaks.

One of the biggest limitations of almost all electoral efforts—including Obama & Bernie's campaigns—is that they dismantle their volunteer armies after election day Instead, Zohran could actively transform his huge GOTV machine into a deep organizing campaign to win his agenda

SMC congratulates
@socialists.nyc
and
@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social
on their amazing victory in the Democratic primary. This win shows the value of a clear, popular, socialist platform that speaks to working people, and that organizing and mass movements are the keys to victory.

I know we’re all keeping track of lines crossed, and there’s more than any one person can track, but this one—I honestly don’t know what to say (other than we knew Homan was going to push all officers of the law into doing the work of mass deportation, and now that includes… arresting judges)

Very nice explanation of what happened with hedge funds and the bond markets Nathan ends: "Democracy surviving in the United States looks so much better than it did two weeks ago." I agree but with the caveat that the China tariffs could escalate to war and then democracy's chances get much worse

I'm sorry but two former Bureau of the Fiscal Service employees reached out after my piece and said it was accurate and they had the exact same concerns, I really do not care about people nitpicking and attributing meaning to my statements that weren't there. Take it to discord.

With every decision we make we have to ask — Will this help us reach unorganized people? Will it grow our power? We can’t expect different results using the same strategy, the same decisions, the same too-small set of organizations + people

people who have never experienced open racism — or open bigotry of any sort — do not appreciate the way it can be psychologically destabilizing. and on the main, it actually isn’t healthy to be so resilient and thick-skinned that you don’t react to slurs and dehumanization

The UAW’s proposed contracts with the Big 3 automakers expire on April 30th, 2028. They have invited other unions to set the same expiration date in their contracts. The reason for this invitation is so that on May Day 2028 “we can begin to flex our collective muscles.”
