Chag sameach. Here’s a little reading that grew up with, in the Haggadah a family friend wrote. I thought this was a “standard” reading for Passover. Turns out it was pulled by that family friend as she compiled, from the original letter itself in a trunk or drawer somewhere.

I am not going to comment much on this, but I am happy to pay forward the lessons I’ve learned here and host a CLE going forward where I just yell “ASK FOR AND MOVE TO COMPEL CHATGPT LOGS” at other lawyers for an hour.

Everyone who works for the NYT — including my many friends — should be incredibly embarrassed by this statement. The depths to which the NYT will go to back its agenda of challenging trans people's right to exist is horrifying, ongoing, and has caused very real and specific harms to trans people.

It is also true that many typical DOJ (and many other government lawyer) assignments are UNIQUELY bad for learning to practice. A lot of being an AUSA in civil cases — for example, habeas defense — is being alone on a case with a supervisor checking in sometimes at best.

I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.

I just sent this email to the news director at NBC4 Washington about the unprofessional and disrespectful way they handled publishing the body camera footage of the DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace that was obtained via my FOIA lawsuit:

Well today in AI scams targeting authors. I received an email claiming to want to include my book in a book club. Not only do all the photos of authors they claim to work with look AI generated but look at @colsonwhitehead.com and @zadiesmith.bsky.social and then look at these photos
