A lot of the opposition to AI comes from people who want to believe they are creative, but are actually quite banal.

I will observe once again that the legal scholarship publication is the worst one, except for all of the others that have been tried. Peer review was designed to solve market failures that no longer exist & has become a market failure. The obvious solution is ... nothing.

Some law prof friends and I were trading bananas meat market stories for the benefit of a junior colleague (to convince them that some aspects of the old meat market sucked). I had a story that I hadn't thought of in a while, so I need to tell it to y'all, too. The year I was on the market, 1/x

Tell me again about how legal scholarship is irrelevant? Of course, I’m realist enough to recognize that the court decided what the constitutional provision meant & cited the article to justify its conclusion. But constitutional bullshit still matters ideologically.

An observation: It is disappointing to see my fellow legal scholars complain about AI-generated legal scholarship. Don't shoot the messenger. We made the procrustean bed that is the form of legal scholarship & we choose to sleep in it. We must awake & remember the pearl we seek.

I'm pleased to learn that the University of Kentucky College of Law has announced its new, permanent dean, Judge Van Tatenhove of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

IMO AI promises to free us from the burden of producing banal slop & allow us to be creative instead. The only problem is that a lot of people enjoy creating banal slop & have no interest in being creative.

Dunno, if they can't tell the difference between the human-generated & AI-generated articles, is AI really the problem?
