The Trump administration has now frozen federal child care funds to Minnesota and five other states (and are threatening more), potentially resulting in thousands of children and families losing child care with no warning.

Let's be clear: The Trump administration is punishing children, families, and hardworking child care providers because of a racist and fraudulent conspiracy theory posted by a bigoted YouTube account. This is not how a democracy should run.

This is the part that’s getting missed. When the Trump administration paused federal assistance to child care centers in Minnesota over fraud claims, it isn’t just bad actors getting hit. It’s working families. Now parents are left wondering if their kids’ daycare will survive…
