Bike advocacy is about FREEDOM. The most AMERICAN mode of transportation. No license or registration or insurance requirements. Legally allowed almost everywhere. Hop off and suddenly you are a pedestrian too. Anti-bike is anti-freedom, which is anti-America.

Too bad e-bikes are not zero-emission vehicles. They don’t qualify because they uhh.. emit.. non-zero? They are uhh.. not vehicles? They are not expensive enough?

I hate when people street park in front of my house. It’s supposed to be MINE. I could have planted flowers or trees, a park bench, or maybe a book stand or bike repair station. Instead it’s used as free storage for someone else’s property while making it more dangerous to pull out of my driveway.

I have a pretty liberal view of housing. It’s not really up to me to decide what other people can and cannot build on their private land. I guess I’m not YIMBY, I just don’t like to tell others or being told what to do.

There is a broader issue of consumerism here. These companies only exist because we buy things from them. Consumers share part of the blame. This is why it’s “reduce, reuse, recycle”, where “reduce” comes first. Vote with your wallet!

San Jose got rid of parking minimums so the market can decide whether to build parking or units. This is just market forces in action. Not sure how it’s related to California’s push for less parking. Mercury could have picked a VTA TOD project instead.

Bike lane solves everything. The drivers don’t want bicyclists on the road. The bicyclists don’t want to be on the road. Everyone is having a bad time. But if you build a bike lane everyone’s happy. Any driver opposing a bike lane is knowingly making their own and others’ lives worse.
