Some recent dissertation pages^^ I loved doing the page that introduces Shatterstar; the idea was to make it feel special and slightly otherworldly, then to move away from that world on the next page as he immerses himself in American culture via televsion

I'm looking through some 20-year-old journals for my dissertation, & I wrote some horrible things in high school. It makes me angry at myself, but glad that I've grown and changed. It's also painful to read how much high school me was clearly struggling and needed therapy & a better support system

Well, it's happened. The Christmas bug hath bit.

It's been simultaneously cathartic and challenging to re-examine my lived experience as I apply it to my exploration of American Culture, in conjunction with a close reading of X-Men comics

I haven't posted on Blue Sky in a while but now feels like an appropriate time to start again! Here are some of the latest pages from my comics dissertation that explores the shifting perspectives of queerness-as-illness in American culture from the 1980s to today

The Sabrina the Teenage Witch series by Kelly Thompson and Veronica and Andy Fish is the ideal comic series - beautiful artwork, rich coloring, and a lovely story. I just really love it. (I finally got the second volume and finished reading the series)

I loved The Marvels, it was perfect and it made me excited for the MCU again

It's always a fun time with the Oh Gosh, Oh, Oh Wow crew! Thankful that they asked me back!

The Chucky tv series is perfectly camp, and Jennifer Tilly performs her face off. I just watched the "Death on Denial" episode in season 2 and it was perfection

Slowly but surely "eating the elephant," as my friend/mentor would say. My dissertation is taking me a while because of my anxiety/depression/general in/ability to function, but I'm getting it done!

It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth is incredible. Thorogood is so candid, so vulnerable and self-deprecating, so playful with the comics form. I can't believe it took me this long to read it but I'm so glad I finally did. It immediately went on my shelf of favorite comics. What a powerful work
