The vast majority of budget survey respondents says they’d payback moderate property tax increase to protect services. Remember this is all to save the average condo owner 8 bucks a month.

Any London based game devs out there, I think this would be an important demo to show up to if you can. The UK industry has to show Rockstar and Take Two higher ups that union busting will not be tolerated.

of note in this story of budget cuts amid police requests for $50 million more dollars next year, is that it is only exempt or non-union staff who are being asked to leave their jobs. form a union with your coworkers. bosses are heartless when the bottom line is in danger.

As we await tomorrow's federal budget, we need to have a discussion as Canadians on municipal budgets. Specifically, how police are increasingly devouring entire municipal budgets to the point other services are being cut or cancelled. It can't continue.

I was talking to a younger local artist who's having trouble figuring out specifically what he wants to do, and you know, it got me thinking about what a dadgummed boon it is to have a very specific lane down which you intend to travel. 1/

I haven't paid attention to baseball since the strikes in the 90s (after the Jays won back-to-back world series when I was a kid, and obsessed) but I watched game 4 and now I'm dying at these extra innings. Baseball.

Zines zine zines!!” the goblins were happily singing as they were writing their strange pictograms as much on the floor as on the paper sheets. One was in charge of the long stapler and was quickly running out of staples. Then the folding started, “Zines! Zines! Zinees!” They chanted all night long.

With October coming to a close things really escallated quickly. We now know of so many games industry layoff waves in 2025 that we're only one short of matching 2024, and we have two months still to go.

I've been doing casual Muay Thai classes at a community gym for the past two months and it's FUN. Not only do I feel more agile but I get to hang out with pals and learn and exercise. Anyway, big recommend, turn your body into a weapon (lol) and have fun while you're at it

Now consider what old Tommy would think about Danielle Smith's use of the notwithstanding clause to order striking Alberta teachers back to work, or the Carney Liberals' use of Section 107 to do the same to the flight attendants

I'm very curious about the difference between 'drawn lines' and 'mechanically perfect lines'. How our brains perceive them. Not which is better, more how they make us feel. Not just lines, shapes as well. Left: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Faces Right: art by undrey from Creative Market Place.

Weather disasters now drain 5–6% of our GDP. Flood damages could hit $13.6 billion by 2100. B.C.’s 2021 disasters alone cost $17 billion; the most in Canadian history. Alberta lost $3.6 billion in just three years. Manitoba’s wildfire season is already costing 180 millions so far. 2/6

Anyone can break up a showing of an enemy propaganda film by putting two or three dozen large moths in a paper bag. Take the bag to the movies with you, put it on the floor in an empty section of the theater as you go in and leave it open. The moths will fly out and climb into the projector beam,

Before I get into some weekend overtime (😭😭) I did want to day that it's been cool to see all the little short independent projects my friends have found themselves chipping in on over the past few months of industry chaos. Obviously it's not sustainable, but I'm glad we're making new art together

I'm watching The Running Man (1987) and this is unhinged, dude. The level of satire is cranked up past safety thresholds. I'm blanking on contemporary media that has a vibe like this- any recent shows or movies doing this kind of ridiculous dystopia?

every friend I’ve caught up with since coming back to Toronto has talked about rent control and auto-month-to-month being the only reason they’re still able to live here. this proposed change will functionally make homeless every long-term tenant in the city. absolute insanity

Timing and set up for jokes in animation are exact down to the frame. And the way you draw something to make it move how you want is only possible if your brain cares deeply about a lot of little things that the recent deluge of slop never achieves.

mark carney taking the time to shit on canada post during his big pre-budget speech was disgusting. he acts like it’s the responsible choice to gut an essential institution at the very moment he can’t stop talking about nation-building projects. that’s what canada post is and could continue to be!
