Took a roughly 8-month hiatus from FFXIV and played some other MMOs in the meantime (WoW and SWTOR to name a couple.) Coming back to FFXIV feels like coming home after spending months away in hotels that were never quite comfortable enough. Absence making the heart grow fonder is true apparently.

Metroid Prime 4 was pretty good! I personally think its probably the weakest of the Prime games, but overall I really enjoyed it. The companions were fine, and not a big deal. The bosses were some of the best in the Prime series though.

Tonight in our Fabula Ultima game, the party fought a Disco-dancing gang leader named Groove Master K who leads the Neon Vibe Collective. They all wear flashy white outfits with neon tubes all over them and dance fight. It was so extra and a ton of fun.

I used to talk bad about old MMOs and stuff like exp penalties and forced grouping. @turboryder.bsky.social got me playing FF11 though and I’ve been having an absolute blast with it. Combat having actual stakes involved really brings it up to a new level and makes it feel like each moment matters.

I love the Trust system in FF14. Running dungeons with my favorite best bud NPCs is so good. Adds so much character to a dungeon. Follower Dungeons in WoW are mechanically superior in every way for leveling. They are competent NPCs and they actually AoE. Couldn’t tell you any of their names tho.

I’ve been working on playing through the entire mainline FF series (and their sequels) lately. Each one gets randomly picked after I complete a game. My most recent pick has been FF13 and this game is actually kinda good? The hallway simulator part sucks but the combat is fun and I like the cast.
