RIP to comics legend Sam Kieth. I've not read much in the way of his comic work outside of Sandman, but the Max cartoon series left an impact on me as a teen.

So I finally joined the 21st century and got a tablet. And it’s made reading comics so much better than my phone. I’ve dropped off most recent comics, so does anyone have any recommendations for newish stuff on Marvel Unlimited or DC Infinite?

Made my wife and I a ribeye and we watched Predator: Badlands. And now we’re watching Predators (the only other one in the series I hadn’t watched). We are very traditional that way when it comes to Valentines.

Damn. RIP Catherine O’Hara, I can’t count the number of amazing roles she’s done that’s stuck with me over the decades.

Finally got a job offer, two months into living in a new city. Still having to pay for two mortgages isn’t ideal, but hopefully my old house sells soon. But it’s a huge relief regardless.

So I’m getting married tomorrow. And the weird part is I feel totally fine about it. I’ve got a baseline amount of anxiety in most of my day to day. But this? Totally different. It helps that it’s a tiny ceremony (just us, her kids and her bff and his gf) but honestly its mostly cuz it feels right.

Posted this on Facebook, but it’s official, I’m moving to St Louis to be with my fiancée. Turned in my resignation at work and my house was just posted for sale. Crossing my fingers everything goes smooth, but I can’t wait to start my next chapter.

Jim Shooter was probably not a great person to work for, but it’s undeniable that he has left a huge impact on comics. From the Legion of Super Heroes, to the Dark Phoenix Saga’s ending to the symbiote Spider-Man costume. RIP

If a report came out tomorrow that said LeBron James got advanced notice of drug tests we’d see 100x’s the focus on that than we’ll get on this guy who *checks notes* was given free rein of the federal government.

There’s no way James Gunn could have known what 2025 would become, but damn, Superman arguing that saving people is more important than anything else… I think that’s the movie we needed right now.

Saw the first showing of Thunderbolts after work. I freaking loved it. I love all the Marvel films, so when I say that this is one of the best in years, that's not me daming it with faint praise, it's a genuinely great film and worth your time.

I had an amazing belated birthday weekend. Dinner at 801 Chophouse with my lovely girlfriend Karen, and then on Saturday an escape room at The Escape Game with a lot of my best friends and a small party at my house.

I mostly loved the new season of Daredevil. Its opening was a bit hard to get over, and I understand those who want more action, but I think it was ultimately necessary to tell this story and I expect the next season to really move faster.

Listened to the Warriors album by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis. The film is a bit of a cultural blindspot, but I'm still largely familiar with the major beats. The album is great, though I don't think it has as many hooks as Hamilton. There are still some bangers, and it's worth a listen.

Some trolls/bigots are coming through today along with the cool people ditching Twitter. Remember: don't interact with trolls, just block. They're here to monetize outrage, which depends on interaction. Blocking deprives them of that. ❤️

Ok, that Thunderbolts trailer is pretty great. And it seems to leaning more in the direction of my preferred take on the comic, ie: bad guys trying (not always successfully) to be better. I was kinda afraid it was going to go down the Ellis run/Dark Avengers thing.

Finally got around to watching the first two of “Agatha All Along”. I’m definitely in so far. Hahn has always been an amazing actor with great comic timing, but it’s great seeing her get something to really showcase her skills.

I had a lot of fun with Beetlejuice^2. I don’t think it will be as much of a classic as the original, and it could have done with one less antagonist, but overall it’s pretty solid film.

so TERFs are getting upset that they’re not able to farm engagement on Bluesky because people are blocking them in place of replying to them or RTing them to dunk on them. keep it up, gang! the best way to hurt their sad little moment is to completely ignore it :)

It should be context sensitive. For something foreboding and cynical, Werner Herzog, for something uplifting and inspiring, Morgan Freeman, and for erotica Gilbert Gottfried.
