Went and saw The Long Walk. I was hoping Mark Hamill would have a bigger part, but the main cast was great and really shine in their roles. I’m too far away from my last read of the novel to nitpick anything, it overall felt very true to the spirit of the book even with the changes they made.

Been a while, but who's ready for a new episode of Schumacast on Monday?

Glad to see someone answered my main question. I’m not thrilled, but I get it.

Saw a cyber truck leaving the neighborhood with a matte black paint job. Couldn’t help but assume it was either to cover up some graffiti or an attempt to shield themselves from it.

So I really thought this week’s Handmaid’s Tale was the finale so when it got to the end I was a little disappointed. Glad I went looking for behind the scenes stuff so I could see it’s not done yet.

Listening to people who are not diehards discussing Interview with a Vampire and Bram Stoker’s Dracula “oh yeah, it was Brad Pitt in that movie!” Cracking me up.

I’ve been watching Spring Baking Championship and I’m convinced the closed captioning is AI generated. Sometimes the bakers run their words together and it’s picking something that it does sound like they are saying but a human editor would easily be able to tell that wasn’t what they said.

Watched A Complete Unknown with Jak. It was hard for him to not notice the inaccuracies but we both enjoyed Chalamet’s performance. It also made me want to go listen to Highway 61 Revisited again so if it does that for enough people it’s an absolute win.

Brought J to urgent care Friday for what ended up being a torn tendon in his finger. Apparently left with a free virus. 🤬 Here’s hoping it’s not Covid or the flu.

Watched all of the Beatles Anthology and the films with my niece. It was great hearing her laugh at the parts that charmed me from the beginning. The end of the Anthology still brings tears to my eyes. I think part of it is how genuinely sad you can tell Ringo is about their end.

Made the decision to take down my old writings from Smashwords, and also couldn’t resist reading the first volume again. It wasn’t as cringe inducing as I expected. The main thought I have is that I really needed to let things breathe more and develop more naturally.

Got tickets to see Billy Joel in October! Been a fan for most of my life so this is a big one for me. Pretty sure it’ll be my first concert in the Superdome too.

Shoveling snow really sucks, especially when you have to use a standard shovel and a rake to do it. But at least our sidewalks and driveway are clear now.

A very rare notification for S Louisiana! They are predicting 4-7 inches for us today. Super excited to see it, though also a little worried about losing power because our infrastructure just isn’t used to this. Fingers crossed this is just a fun day of snowfall for us.

Me: This season of Squid Game isn’t connecting with me as much. Fifteen minutes later I’m crying over a minor character death. I can admit when I’m wrong.

My theme for this year is Natural. I chose it as one with multiple meanings, as I’m going to try to eat better, be more true to myself, and could use a reminder that you just have to let things happen in their own time and not try to force things or get upset if change isn’t happening fast enough.

Just watched Jak play, and the 80s new wave cover band is setting up to take us into midnight. Not a bad way to start 2025. The outside world isn’t looking hopeful but I am hopeful my personal world will improve.

So in all fairness I don’t think there was going to be any topping the original’s “Day-O” scene, but Beetlejuice Beetlejuice certainly made a choice there. Not quite sure how I feel about it. Overall, it’s a fun movie but the story is a bit more of a mess than the original was.

Watched Asteroid City tonight and found it very charming. It’s funny to me how I started off hating Wes Anderson’s style and have now come to love it. He’s changed a bit but clearly I have too.

Like so many others, I’m just trying to focus on taking care of myself and those I love right now. Will probably try to lose myself for a bit in fiction and creative pursuits.

Woke up at 5 in order to line up to vote shortly before the polls opened at 6 and was done in 10 minutes! I also took off tomorrow morning because I know I won’t be able to just go to bed without knowing as much of the results as I can tonight.

I seriously have no idea what I’m going to do for a Halloween costume this year. That’s a very rare thing for me. Maybe I’ll get some inspiration while I’m on vacation.

I did an accidental double feature of horror movies set in the late 80s last night. The first is unreleased, but the second is an indie film from 2016 called The Barn. It’s a decent throwback to 80s horror, as long as you don’t go in expecting Hollywood level quality.

I had tried to watch the Hazbin Hotel pilot on YouTube and felt like it just wasn’t for me. Gave the Amazon series a shot and I’m liking it better two episodes in.

Was able to work my entire workday and get some important files in ahead of the deadline, which is nice. We’re all set and safe at home here, though it seems likely we’ll lose power tonight.

Can’t sleep because I can’t lay on my side right now since I got second piercings in my ears today. Another thing I’ve been wanting to do since high school.
