#werewolfwednesday The November 1941 issue of of Weird Tales carried the story ‘The Werewolf Howls’ by Clifford Bell. Universal’s The Wolf Man was soon to be released, so this tale of a werewolf in olden France must’ve been gobbled up by those who’d seen the previews for Lon Chaney’s beast.

2/n relief. Later (over a year) I was able to join a CBT group and received coaching and support for ERP. This was back in the early to mid-1990s and most of the available books were not particularly helpful or insightful. I would say get the best professional help you can find #OCDTalkHour

I guess my point of view is slightly outdated. My symptoms had been worsening for several decades before I heard that SSRIs had helped some sufferers. At the urging of a good friend I sought a formal diagnosis. Whatever trepidations I had about meds evaporated when I experienced 1/n #OCDTalkHour

While leading us through a glow worm cave in NZ, our Maori guide said that if water drips on your head it's good luck. My son rolled his eyes. "Oh no, mummy's gonna be folkloring again". I've never been prouder.

Heard from Tanner Mierow at #SICB2026 about the mutualisms between snapping shrimp and gobies. Gobies need shrimp to dig holes. Shrimp need gobies to keep a lookout. But who asks who out here? Gobies initiate- they’re *desperate* for a shrimp. But once initiated, shrimp maintain the relationship.

Chemical withdrawal from medication is very real… And it does not mean someone was/is addicted to the medication. Addictions are both massively misunderstood and stigmatised… as are things like withdrawal effects (both addictive and non-addictive)

I get that people want to point out untrue stereotypes. But don’t let that mean that you punch down to those of us with these tics. These tics are really difficult to live with and cope with and cause great distress. Please stop pushing them aside and minimising them 11/ #Tourettes

My Christmas reading was the wonderful 'Upon A White Horse' by @peteralanross.bsky.social, a lovely account of the author's travels across Britain in search of enigmatic ancient sites. Highly recommended and it has inspired me to get out and about a visit a few of the places he describes in 2026!
