It always amazes me how people assume I can see without my glasses. Like if I'm at a haircut or massage or something where I have to take my glasses off and then they ask me to look at something, walk across the room etc. I cannot see!!!

Today we kicked off year 3 of Pastauary which is a holiday my husband and I invented. To celebrate Pastauary you just go out for pasta a bunch of times in January. 🤷‍♀️😅🍝 All are welcome to observe!

This summer, I took myself to the beach for two days & wrote a letter to my fellow educators about “AI.” My mom asked to read it; I told her, “Not yet. Let me get another draft done.” Welp. I should have let her read the first draft because she’s not here to read this one.

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing. You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics. That is all.

Grief and the brain are so weird. My mom's been dead for 6 years and yet, walking into the bookstore this morning to do holiday shopping, my brain went "and which book should we find for her?" It's not like I forget. But these little glitchy moments never seem to go away.

Last year I stopped using Goodreads and then stopped tracking what I read altogether. I enjoy reading so much more now that there's no part of my brain occupied with ratings.
