The poster for Skydance Animation’s upcoming film Swapped looks gorgeous!!! I am very biased as there’s a lotta Blue Skyers on this one!! I like the old title Pookoo more but we are in an era of literal titles. 🤷♀️ Excited to see a what Nathan Greno’s got after Tangled + years in creative leadership.

I Am the Night: The Ultimate Unauthorized History of Batman: The Animated Series is both the story of the creation of a landmark cartoon (packed with new interviews with the folks who made it happen) and a deep dive into what it meant to both animation and the character of Batman. It drops on 9/1.

In honor of WB’s 11 Oscar wins, the studio celebrated with some cookies this morning. My group had nothing to do with these wins but it’s nice to be included 😝 I imagine the live action feature team will do more!!!

I can't think of a team more deserving of the kind of power that nights like tonight bestow in Hollywood than Michael and Ryan. And a big part of that is because they know what to do with it and what it means. The future is so bright for them. This too, is part of Chad's legacy. 🖤

The Oscars had a whole speech about how documentary directors are often at odds with their government and at risk of being murdered for their films. But Best International Films are still submitted by their governments, and the award goes to the country.

If Avatar hadn't won, it would have been an insane thing for the VFX branch. Never mind that it's basically animated, every subsequent film in that series they significantly up the game, whether you care for them or not. Undeniable.

Very typical of the Oscars that Arnett's plea to protect animation from AI was admittedly part of a bit, but we'll take it.

Still insane to me that Netflix/Sony didn't have a KPOP Demon Hunters show ready to go. How could they not see how this would have legs. All the way to the Oscars!!! So happy for y'all!

Paramount getting control of WB is a further descent into fascism. This isn’t about theatrical releases or physical media. This is about MAGA further controlling the news and Trump wedging his way into Hollywood influence. This is disastrous in ways that will be far-reaching.

Undocumented immigrants contribute nearly $100 billion in taxes every year. Meanwhile, the wealthiest 1% dodge $163 billion in taxes annually. The real drain on America isn’t coming from the border — it’s coming from the boardroom.

I'm fortunate I got to board a fun stylized music-driven sequence under Alex Kirwan's direction, after we worked well together on the Witch Hazel cartoon for the shorts years ago. My drawings are so scribbly, I think I roughed it out in barely 2-3 days if I recall, no cleanup. But man, what a blast.

There were a lot of influences I looked at and felt inspired by before diving into the sequence. Bubsy Berkeley scenes, Oskar Fischinger, Boris Artzybasheff, sequences from Fantasia/Make Mine Music/Melody Time, Dumbo, Cinderella, Modern Times... lot of homages and little references here and there.

I wish I had more time to make my boards polished & pretty, but I guess there was enough information there to work off of, including Stephen DeStefano on designs, Joshua Moshier's incredible score & the amazing animators up at TonicDNA. They took my thumbnails and made a stunning sequence out of it!

Clearest proof yet that the Trump admin uses "DEI" to mean "nonwhite people doing something impressive and getting credit." Navajo Code Talkers made a big difference in WWII. The Axis had more trouble translating their language than cracking codes. And it's not like the Navajo owed the US anything.
