Out today - structure of the human HIRA histone chaperone complex bound to nucleosomes. Ever wondered how nucleosomes are assembled in the wake of transcription? It takes a 'hulk of a protein complex'. Work by the amazing Wei Tian

Excited to share our latest paper! We found that large pieces of the human genome can transfer between cells upon direct contact, endowing recipient cells with heritable phenotypic changes.

Small contribution to the eternal match happening inside every cell: in the red corner, replication. In the blue corner, transcription. Both convinced they own the genome. Another amazing collaboration with

The S/G2 checkpoint prevents the premature shutdown of the DNA replication program. Without it, cells fail to finish replicating their chromosomes and have severe mitotic errors.

Microhomology-mediated end joining acts directly on replication forks to repair single-ended double-strand breaks
Li et al. uncover a new mechanism, fork-MMEJ, at broken replication forks that repairs seDSBs with characteristics distinct from the canonical MMEJ (cMMEJ). This study provides insights into replication-associated DSB repair, implicates microhomology-mediated chromosomal rearrangements in cancer, and offers potential therapeutic strategies to selectively target cancer cells.

Dear Colleagues, Delighted to share that our first lab paper is now published in Nature.!!! 😊😊😊 We identify a previously concealed “safety limit” in DNA replication program: cells intrinsically rate-limit PCNA via PAF15, shaping strand-specific and global replication dynamics. 👉
