This is an appalling level of cruelty for numerous reasons. Right now, I am thinking of the additional, intentional harm his lies are inflicting on people already steeped in shock and grief over the deaths of their loved ones.

Thinking about how often I've navigated new and daunting responsibilities by just pretending I am a person who can do them, which usually turns out to be true (or true enough). I realize this is just "fake it till you make it," but it's amazing how often faking it IS making it.

Bishop Tells Trump to āHave Mercyā on Immigrants and Gay Children
The direct appeal to President Trump at the start of the first full day of his presidency was a remarkable moment at a National Cathedral event that has not historically been political.

Here's your daily reminder that bookstores keep the love of reading alive āĀ but they also keep neighborhoods beautiful. They are places to gather, to celebrate stories, to find community. Please do your holiday shopping at your local independent bookstore, if you are lucky enough to still have one.

In 2008, my dad had emergency quintuple bypass surgery on Thanksgiving morning. My in-laws drove up to Milwaukee and dropped off a full turkey dinner for us in the ICU waiting room, complete with this turkey planter. Dadās still here, btw. š Grateful for all the ways that family shows up.
