Happy book day to me! You can take the man out of the knighthood - but can you take the knighthood out of the man? Aaron Conner wanted a quiet life, away from the supernatural that defined his younger years. Fate... has a different plan.

One of the things I have taken away from Spirit Blade's success, though, is that the price tolerance for ebooks has gone down again. I'm experimenting with dropping the prices of all of my first in series, to see how that goes I've also got the wheels turning on all of my books being in libraries

I think Spirit Blade has been my most successful urban fantasy launch ever, which I'm pretty sure I can blame on Blue Sky. A former magical knight has to decide if he's able to walk away when buildings start burning and his new job starts smelling evil...

Hugely sad. We've lost John Blanche. It's hard to know where to begin. He set fire to a generation's imagination, and those fires show no sign of stopping burning. His work very much illuminated the darkness.

The Old Guard (House Adamant 2) is discounted to $2.99 all month in the same places.

The downside of any success as an author is this unending cascade of scams. Like Ada says: daily or more. I pity anyone trying to get an author to show up for a book club right now. (The folks cold emailing to sell ad services are in a similar mess I suppose, but 90% of those were scams already)

As usual,
@cemurphy.bsky.social
accidentally made me go look at numbers. I have written 77,000 words in May (I should get some more in before the end, but I'm handling copyedits so I might not) I'm at 310K for the year. That's two novels and the last 20K words of Spirit Blade, basically.

So, in the chaos of discovering the whole mess with the "simplified GST program" (which appears to offload everything onto the small business in the middle), I found I needed to upgrade my Dropbox for them to take a GST number. I upgraded. They refunded the HST on the previous subscription.
