The Gooseworx fandom situation is really reminding me of this one time Freddie Prinze Jr. had this massive crashout about fan expectation, and fans who act like they know better than the creator when talking about the Star Wars fandom

Theories and "expectations" have had a nasty impact on culture. They just set people up to get mad when the story the artist tells doesn't line up with whatever people imagined based off "patterns" that don't really mean anything. Wait for the end, enjoy the ride, and let a story be what it is.

That YouTuber you watch who came up with an interesting theory is not a “better writer” than the showrunner. They just had a different idea and you liked that idea. Chatting about a cool concept isn’t the same as sitting in a writing room with innumerable other facets of production relying on you.

Here’s the thing and I’m gonna tell you: a lot of fans are why so many creators just don’t want to create anymore. And so many of them are oddly proud of their ability to bully. In order for cartoons as a concept to survive, they need to knock that shit off.

I feel like a lot of parasocial relationships with media and creators would be avoided if a lot of people just admitted to themselves that they just like whatever they’re consuming itself and not the creator

If indie animation is gonna have any viability, I must stress that it is important to have a good producer to figure out the money and manage the production team. I will keep banging this drum because it isnt enough to have skilled artists or writers without someone who can manage resources.

I hope people can become familiar with the concept of not putting all faith into a single service/platform again. It was ten years ago that Skype became inconvenient so people switched from using it. Even further back people manually opted to download and use other browsers than Internet Explorer.
