So this may have been from the audio engineering school I used to go to, Expression in Emeryville. I noticed the logo and the name Scanlon, one of the audio teachers that was there The date was the day after they played in Daly City. Maybe this was a private session?

Things are changing in software dev with agentic tools being viable, but the fundamentals haven't. I wrote a blog post covering my mental model for what agents are good for, and how to use them effectively that transcends any specific tool. Check it out:

Having fun using some of my recent compiler and BEAM bytecode tooling to write a nanopass mix compiler for brainfuck that directly compiles to BEAM bytecode. There's probably some useful little utilities that can be extracted from this to help with building languages on top of the BEAM

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional! ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

A few people have asked, so I extracted the diagnostics code from my type checker into its own package:
github.com/QuinnWilton/...
This could probably use some more battle-testing, but I tossed in some examples for using it with macros, a complex DSL, with nimble_parsec, and for validating yaml.

Something I haven't seen discussed too much about coding agents is that even though they make it easy to rapidly produce bad code, this also means that they make it easy to rapidly experience and learn from the shortcomings of different design designs, at a rate normally not possible.

I was curious, so I pulled down my old partial implementation of the "Type Systems as Macros" paper for Elixir, and had Claude do a review of the codebase to document the limitations and propose a plan for resolving them. The result exceeded my expectations:
