LA people: Tomorrow, Friday 5/30, Iâll be introducing a screening of the excessively grim 1981 German film CHRISTIANE F. at VidĂ©othĂšque! 8 p.m. Cypress Park. It will NOT be the dubbed version (sorry if you like shitty dubbing) (I kind of do).

one thing i love about peepo (and all of the ahlberg's books, really) is how the family just lives in like, a normal house. like they're poor and there's a lot of people crammed in there and their stuff is everywhere just like in a normal house where people love each other

Reissue out today! Big thanks to
@lauravandenberg.bsky.social
for the killer new afterword. I started writing this novel 20 years ago, finished it around this time in 2007. Published 2010. It feels ancient, yet the book refuses to die!

You donât hear enough about how Lynch photographed MAKEUP. Iâm thinking especially Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, Blake in Lost Highway(!), an emphasis on the makeup surface, the actor underneath. Love it.

The kids are demanding detailed retellings of stories from the new Brian Evenson at dinner, which is taking all my powers of recall and pacing but also I want my 7 year old to sleep?
