It’s REALLY important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against downtown bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of the evidence that they are better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced. Bike-lanes mean business.

I love when people call cyclists "hysterical" or "easily offended" as if they've never seen a driver absolutely lose their shit when they're behind a car going the speed limit or when a pedestrian crosses the street. Drivers are perpetually whiny babies. Cyclists just don't want to get killed.

Every video promoting cycling networks should mention massive healthcare savings by preventing edema, Deep Vein Thrombosis & other expensive to treat medical issues common among inactive elderly folks. Especially those no longer able to walk much or ride 2-wheel cycles safely.

They remind drivers to drive with caution. And most importantly, they are a symbol to city decision makers that work needs to be done to make that location safe for vulnerable road users.

What is a ghost bike? Ghost bikes are roadside memorials. They are usually a bike that’s painted white and placed at crash sites where bicyclists have been killed. They honor the person who was killed. The presence of a ghost bike is a signal to bicyclists and pedestrians that the area is not safe.

Canada is ranked 1 in education, 3 in safety, 4 in justice, 4 in overall best country. We are not a broken country. We have not suffered a lost decade. Our existence is in the balance. Vote.
