Had a lovely evening with friends who have finally bought their first house - and looking forward to helping strip some wallpaper and knock down some walls with them 🤗 incredibly blessed by their friendship and generosity

I can tell it is slightly cooler today because a) I didn't melt into a total puddle in cassock and gown b) the local Tesco Express fridges are back online and c) I was able to walk out of the building for lunch and the air be breathable 😅

Also this morning was beautifully lovely and strange as I did not realise some of the Ordinands had trained with St Hild so their Vice Principal was there to support them. I spent a year doing a Grad Cert with them so it was lovely to catch her up with where I am now, if slightly odd to verge her!

Ordination of five deacons this morning, then a full reset ready for our Patronal Festival tomorrow, and an Evensong with a cheeky Tu Es Petrus for the introit. Absolutely knackered by both heat and the physical furniture moving but been lovely to see people celebrating saying yes to God

Last week when I agreed to meet someone for coffee in town at 12pm I did not bank on it being 28 degrees. Thankfully not a professional meeting so I can at least wear shorts, but even so 🥵

Sat in the park in a bench in the shade and two ladies ask if they can join me for a while to rest out of the sun, pleasure to just sit and listen to their easy conversation, share a little of our lives, and then head on our separate ways 🤗

Spending Father's Day assembling a bookcase and wishing dad was able to come and give me a hand because I suck at anything practical despite his efforts to teach me 😅 I miss being able to talk to him because of the aphasia but know he understands everything I tell him and we still can cause mischief

Post dentist I managed to make it to my Friday night recovery meeting and then to the last hour or so of the staff party. So thankful for two groups of people who in different ways help me in getting well and for a good level of spoons to be able to socialise in such situations. #ODAAT

Starting my three day weekend having a tooth extracted - at least I have time for the swelling to subside before going back to work! Somehow don't think I will make it to the staff BBQ tonight though 😔

Issuing a gentle pronoun update - am now they/them. It feels very weird and hard coming out again on social media and am sure once I am back at work it will feel even more strange but over the last few months I have been using these pronouns with friends and it feels far more natural 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The three people I knew who were facing their stage 2 (how the CofE discerns who to ordain) have all been recommended for training and my heart is so happy for them all - the Church will be hugely blessed by their gifts in ordained ministry. God doing wonderful things through the people of God ❤️

A friend introduced me to the Sheffield Carols which were preserved due to Ian and his passion for continuing traditions. Had the joy of learning and singing them here the last few years. May he rest in peace - am sure that both Whitby Folk Week and this Xmas many will raise a glass and a song

Made it back to York in time for Evensong and we had Messiaen 'Majesté Du Christ' for the Voluntary which was a glorious treat. Very much back to the office tomorrow, but it is a pretty wonderful one
