Yep, he wrote on his blog back when Sugar was in art school how much he liked her work and saying it was way better than anything being done at Cartoon Network (lol). He also said her art wasn't a certain slur for gay people that starts with "f."

And most ironically of all, even though Rebecca Sugar and "Steven Universe" seems to be the primary targets of the "CalArts style" insult these days, John K praised Sugar for specifically NOT drawing in what he called "CalArts Style." Such a meaningless phrase.

DUDE. Just, stop. That Calarts "insult" doesn't work for two reasons: 1. The style it criticized was made by people who NEVER attended Calarts. 2. The person who coined the term, John K (a statutory rapist), to criticize people for opting to Disney's style instead of his.

Facebook ruined the internet. From the destruction of privacy through data mining, the decimation of forums, to the people it brought online and their hate-filled views - it has left nothing but misery in its wake.

This week make it clear that this franchise has now become Nickelodeon’s equivalent to Star Wars - it was already toxic before but it has become just as bad as the Fandom Menace. When it comes to most toxic Nick shows fandoms, it’s already competing against SpongeBob, TLH, iCarly, and Victorious.

I don’t need any explanations for the first two. As for the other two, let’s just say the shipping wars and the shitty treatment Victoria Justice gets from that show’s fandom (which overlaps with the Ariana Grande fandom) play a big role in why those fandoms are awful.

Oh and I almost forgot when Laci Mosley got harassed 5 years ago for simply replacing Sam as Carly’s friend and it got so bad the show’s account addressed the drama. Jennette could’ve also addressed that cause that was just uncalled for people to speak on behalf of her character’s whereabouts.

As someone who has been highly critical of The Walt Disney Company, the recent hate towards Disney has become borderline grifting. We are at a point where Disney announcing a brand new original animated movie is enough to get people rioting. To Animation Twitter, please go touch grass.

It's hard to make any kind of story, let alone an animated one, whether it be a film or a show. The least anyone can do is show respect to the people who make them.

IMO, the first Nick star who end up having a successful post-Nick career. She wasted no time getting another starring role (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) two years after Clarissa ended, did an ABC Family sitcom, and these days she just films Christmas movies

The Simpsons is that rare type of show where the people who complain about it nowadays....never actually bother to watch it to justify their opinion, given how people are acting like they are retiring the couch gags when in reality, it's just lessen the amount depending on the script

These news outlets need to stop reporting on Simpsons updates because every single time they’re always late to the game. No they haven’t stopped doing couch gags, they just do them sporadically nowadays. Most episodes just start right away instead of playing the title sequence.

I obviously have matured enough to not rely solely on Disney or any of the big American studios for that matter to push animation forward, but it'd be nice to know all that prestigious talent is being put to good use, y'know?

Not to say odds of that being the case are reduced to zero but the first concrete facts we're getting aren't inspiring confidence in folks for a reason. I keep saying - it doesn't have to be amazing but it has to be different.

What gets me about Disney's Hexed is that, as the sole original sandwiched between sequels, and new leadership firmly in place, I can't help but view it as WDAS' chance to really give a fresh start. Pave the way for a bright future once they're comfortable. Esp after Zootopia 2 showed teeth again.

They have a right to be called out just as much as Disney and/or Pixar, but they arent. Yknow why? Cause they dont wanna admit that Sony Pictures Animation has the same issues as Disney. And don't get me started on Matt Braley's film. Same with Dreamworks. And thats just one of many problems.

Im genuinely curious if anyone who calls out Disney/Pixar about how they handled their last several films (which they should), but probably didnt bat an eye or quickly forgot about what happened at Sony with Spiderverse and even recently at Dreamworks where a trans animator was allegedly harassed.

Between the LOA leak, Amazing Digital Circus theatrical announcement, and now the harassing of a Disney animator on Twitter reguarding Hexed, this week has pretty much solidified that, as I said before, the animation community is full of hypocrites who dont care about the medium, only the benefits.

Anybody using CalArts as an insult, I doubt they'd be able to watch Mad God despite all their talk of supposedly liking animation. They're cowards.

Not to mention how the hate on Hexed feels so forced. I saw rage over the image of the main characters and…it’s fine. There’s honestly nothing worth ranting about the designs. That level of negative bias needs to be checked.
