On 30th March 1565, Elizabeth Lowys of Great Waltham became the first person in England to be executed under the Witchcraft Act of 1562. Elizabeth was tried on 21st July 1564 in Colchester, and sentenced to hang, but pled pregnancy, so her execution was delayed. #WitchSky #SkyStorian #EssexWitches
