There has been a lot of controversy in my DC neighborhood about a project to remove a median to make room for concrete barriers to protect the bike lane. The drivers complain that there will be head-on collisions now that they are only separated by paint. They fail to see the irony.

Our dog walks are the equivalent of our dogs scrolling social media. They read all the posts and comments. They also make quite a lot of comments, and occassionally make a post. We carry plastic bags that we use to delete their posts.

There are many things I’m very proud of as a Canadian. MANY things. But every time I watch another media story about another ambitious push in renewable energy from China, I’m embarrassed that Canada isn’t aggressively working to quickly become a true global powerhouse in renewable energy.

It used to be that cyclists could estimate the chance of being doored by observing whether or not parked cars were occupied. Now, a huge number of parked cars have occupants just sitting in them, staring at cat videos, but ready to fling their doors open without the slightest warning.

Because drivers can't get their idiotic huge vehicles out of the way, all multi-lane roads should have dedicated, protected emergency vehicle lanes. Cyclists should be allowed to use them when not being used by emergency vehicles. Win-win.
