When John Smith died & glowing obits filled newspapers, people said: if only I knew what a nice bloke he was, I would've voted for him.

People just won't understand that you can't fix problems instantaneously by waving a magic wand or posting something on Facebook. Sustainable change takes years - and we are just starting to see the results.

The biggest obstacle to getting the good news out there is our biased news media. No matter how many announcements Labour make it won't reach the voters unless something is done about the broadcasters. There is supposed to be a code of impartiality, it needs to be enforced.

So Keir Starmer putting himself out to campaign for Burnham in Makerfield. Whilst Burnham appears tetchy to reporters and generally grumpy. Starmer winning hands down in the popularity contest this week don’t you think?
