I agree with Trevor that the Okada-Takeshita finish in the C2 is a bad move given the promise of the C2. But I can't get to the level of "why do I even bother?" AEW continues to put out the highest level in-ring wrestling of any modern American promotion. That's why! Perspective!

20 years ago tonight I was in such a rush to get to the New Yorker Hotel on time after a shift working retail that I actually drove to midtown, parked in a garage, and ran to the venue. I'm not sure it's possible to match the experience of being in that venue that night.

Some of my favorite audio we've ever done, w/ some fascinating stuff about Sabu's relationships with Heyman, Benoit, Taz, and others.

When I first went to LA in 2009 I discovered that Sabu has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It's for a different Sabu, but I do think Sabu was such a singular presence in wrestling history that it feels like he deserves the honor too.

I can't think of too many matches more appealing to me right now than Will Ospreay vs Hangman Page in a match with high stakes. That match sells itself.

Besides the booking, one main reason that AEW seems hotter again is that they're back to having multiple must-see matches on both shows every week. That was common for a while, then it stopped being so common.

It didn't sustain.

We can talk about predictability but I would bet NO ONE predicted that there would be only one run-in in the main event and it would be Travis Scott.

I hope it sustains, but this is the best atmosphere for a WWE match in years.

When I was a kid I thought the Star Spangled Banner included the word "dawnserly," which I would one day find out the meaning of. Turns out it was only "ramparts," which I still don't know the meaning of.

I feel so gaslit when people (including Meltzer) say WWE PPV wrestling is better than ever. Up until the mid 2010s, WWE PPVs regularly featured matches that were better than the best matches of today's WWE. The floor for match quality is probably higher, but the high end is definitely lower.

I bet if you told 1995 ECW Paul Heyman that he would be the focal point of one of the biggest matches at Wrestlemania 30 years (!) later, he would laugh his ass off.

My issue with the Moxley reign is that my favorite promotions have been the ones where you can usually count on the world title match to be excellent. Whether it's 80s Flair NWA, 90s AJPW, 00s ROH, 10s NJPW. AEW has several of the world's best wrestlers. They should be that too.

Tony maybe read the room (the news) before doing your downer "heat" finish.
