With FFXIV, sometimes it’s impossible to connect with fans who only play the English version because our understandings of various characters and plot points differ so drastically… That shouldn’t be the case!!!!

It’s funny how often localization choices do indeed come down to a social agenda, but it’s the polar opposite agenda of what 99% of anitwt dudebros think lol

As always, if you are able to play ffxiv in literally any other language besides EN, do so, the EN loc is garbage that omits/changes/obscures info, changes character personalities and names of things, changes speech styles so they’re less distinct, etc.

Tangentially, it’s so aggravating getting Heavensturn screencaps from SIL and seeing all the good イイs we missed from the NPCs because Haurchefant having a famous catchphrase was too homosexual I guess (thus our emote is awkwardly named /haurchefant. And there’s the fucking Verminion “E” nonsense)
