Credit statements are useful ex-post, but may create wrong incentives ex-ante and backfire. I think each author should vouch for the whole paper, encouraging mutual control. Credit statements compartmentalize responsibility, reduce mutual control and costs to collaborate with untrustworthy others.

📢 New working paper alert! With the help of more than 700 volunteer reviewers, we (@milosfisar.bsky.social,  @chrhuber.bsky.social, Elena Katok, @ozkesali.bsky.social and myself) assessed the reproducibility of ~500 articles published in Management Science. Some results. 📊🔍 #Reproducibility

This paper reports on a survey of journal editors’ perceptions of departures from pre-registrations, and provides a template for transparently tracking and disclosing them (I really like the latter). Worth thinking about incorporating in your lab’s SOPs.
