Been debating if I wanted to do a little mini thread talking about Shibahama, the rakugo story at the center of ep 1 of Akane Banashi (and actually kind of it's plot) but it is kind of funny because the story is not deeply profound or complicated, its like... aesopian level of complex.

Funny thing about the opening is that it's a bit more straightforward in its channeling of Shirahama's artistry, incorporating chapter covers and the likes. A lot of it is about her distinct paneling sensibilities, and then you get this, which actually that's just Agott being gay

With Hat Atelier is, no exaggeration, one of the most mesmerizing comics out there. Struggled to describe Nippon Sangoku earlier, even as someone who has read multiple volumes of the manga. Landed on "LoGH meets Golden Kamuy", which implies a high bar I don't think it's ready to clear... but it sure is getting a stylish anime adaptation, so worth giving it a try!
