We should use the correct term. Trump and his gang were trying to overthrow the government. We had a duly elected government that they were trying to dislodge. The election was secondary.

Everything should change: The Supreme Court should have 5 justices per Circuit (so currently 65 justices), and each case that is taken up by the court should have a random selection of justices to hear and decide it. And each justice should also ride their Circuit for part of the year.

Good morning. I watched a livestream of a local airport commission meeting earlier this week. What I saw was, well, what we've been seeing in blue areas for decades now -- public outcry vs. so-called public servants.

Public outcry vs. ‘public servants’: MN airport officials ignore community demands on Delta ICE flights, approve luxury lounge plan

I think the 2028 Democratic winner of the presidential election should declare, before taking office, that they will disregard any SCOTUS ruling that any illegitimate justice participated in. The justices and Congress can solve that as they see fit.

The Supreme Court's "conversion therapy" decision today is indefensible on its own terms. A ton of medical regulations restrict speech on the basis of "viewpoint." Nobody thinks they're unconstitutional. This court just subjects pro-LGBTQ protections to special hostility.

The Supreme Court's only opinion is Chiles v. Salazar. By an 8–1 vote, the court holds that Colorado's ban on LGBTQ "conversion therapy" for minors is viewpoint discrimination and therefore triggers strict scrutiny under the First Amendment. Jackson dissents.

Musk is a malevolent force in American life, driven by white nationalism and incredibly influential given his obscene wealth. He's a supervillain. But people get that. He's deeply unpopular, with an approval rating in the mid-30s with Trump. We just need political leaders willing to take him on.

An observation I've been thinking about: Around 2020, we were told that US political & corporate elites had been gripped by "wokeness" & thus become obsessed with climate change & diversity. This wokeness was alleged to be so severe & monomaniacal that it threatened the entire culture & economy.
