MPLS was the site of one of our general strikes in 1934 btw. Took over the city for a month or two. Hardly spontaneous--the teamsters (especially their communists) had been planning it for months. Because they're in transport, they were, like ICE watch, tracking down scab trucks across the city.

This mobility also meant things expanded quite quickly, especially once cops started shooting, and that an enormous amount of solidarity was required of their neighbors because the goal was to stop moving things. At least two people killed, hundreds injured. But they won, and unions swept the city.
