Every time you see that the government is trying to raise our military spending to 5% of GDP, think about the fact that our total elementary and secondary school spending is 3.9% of GDP.

Getting REAL tired of government "public consultations" that are blatantly designed to elicit specific responses. But we should still let Ford know what's important to us, and there is an option to email directly if you have "a specific proposal".

Costs for CPP and EI have gone up, but school boards have NOT been given funds from the Ontario government to pay for these mandatory increases. Millions of dollars are now being spent on EI and CPP contributions that could have been spent on direct supports for students.

The Ontario government keeps telling school boards to find more โefficienciesโ. The end result is cuts to services and programs that impact our most vulnerable students, more kids melting down, and more families who can afford to do so leaving for private schools.

Seeing so many students with various social and learning needs falling through the cracks is a moral injury. Knowing that with just a little bit of direct support a student would be able to be safe and successful, but lacking the staff and time to make it happenโฆ itโs a lot.

It really has been interesting the last while to see Doug Ford's outbursts. The true Ford. From "get a job" to "audit orgs that might support left wing causes". The authoritarian belligerent bully that had no staff to muzzle him in City Hall days is still there. Does Ontario see? Do they care?

Ethnic frauds stir up so many terrible feelings in Indigenous folks, and I don't think the general public really understands this. The goal of the ongoing colonial project has been the erasure of Indigenous Peoples, meaning our identity and existence has been undermined from every direction.
