I once had a fight with my publisher's lawyer over what constitutes "fair use." He said reprinting 4 lines of a poem without the poet's explicit permission was too much. But AI gobbling up whole books now counts as "fair use." Something is definitely wrong with US copyright law.

Here’s a thread where I’m posting revelations as I listen to Sarah Wynn Williams’ book “Careless People.” First up: Facebook gave (gives?) a Little Red Book to new employees with Mark Zuckerberg quotes, photos and core principles (i.e. we’ll get your laundry done if you work harder.)

what I'm taking from this is that every book reviewer out there, even if Careless People isn't within your usual wheelhouse of reviews, should be reviewing this book as soon as possible, and getting loud about it!

I know Careless People is about Meta and Zuck, but I just started it and that childhood shark attack chapter is… damn. It’s terrifying. That alone makes the book worth the read.
