the new skate isn't interested in skateboarding. it's interested in selling you a thrasher hoodie.

spent an hour with the new skate and it has all the most annoying stuff from forza horizon. the game is openly hostile to you just skating. pushing you from one challenge to the next. an AI assistant that will not give you a moment’s peace. progress bars to fill and loot boxes to open.

the new skate game looks like a massive bummer. open world, MTX cosmetic slop that feels disconnected from the actual world of skating.

Ryan Lay is skateboarding most prolific nollie skater so I talked to him about just that, and combed his part in 'Endless Beauty' for every trick off the nose, for a fun addendum to his 'Five Favorite Parts' interview 🧬

A central premise of millennial life was that in exchange for accepting less—less money, less stability—one could stay young forever.

the dime glory challenge is what skateboarding at the olympics should be. dozens of the world's best skaters trying to skate increasingly fucked up obstacles in front of an arena of people going wild.

feel like it comes down to this: can we, as individuals and as a society, recognize that we can make totally different decisions to ensure that everyone has their needs met, and has the autonomy to live the life they want to live?

just feels like there’s no dignity anymore. wanna use the john at the grocery store? well the door doesn’t latch and the TP dispenser is busted. and they ain’t gonna fix that shit, that’s money that could be lining someone pockets instead.

Witnessed a ribbon cutting at a new rest stop in OH. I wasn't sure what was going on since it was packed. I asked a guy at the door if I could enter. A short old man, some official, emerged from the crowd and hobbled forward, arms outstretched, and said "Yes! Come in! Come in and use the bathroom!"

Due to a bizarre code interdepency in Super Mario Sunshine, Mario can gain permanent aggression to durians. While normally, he can handle them gently, if Mario enters a sewer and jumps once, he will become incapable of kicking them with anything except full force.

pretty funny that, a decade later, they're still trying to make battlefield have moral weight. never really embracing that it's really a game about 128 players smashing their army toys into one another for 35 minutes at a time

Hell Gate’s big election scoop was that Andrew Cuomo’s campaign used ChatGPT to help write his housing plan. It wasn’t even leaked to us through weird hacks by white supremacists trying to push an agenda! Subscribe to help us do more.

watching hockey 4 and i think out of all the big galoots in skating, john fitzgerald has the best big galoot style. some might say hjalte, but i think his skating is in defiance of his big galootness. john embraces it.

think it's fair to hold electeds to the same standards they hold coaches to. bro, you just let the other team take away healthcare and food from millions of americans to fund tax cuts for the rich and the world's largest police state. time for you to hit the bricks.

Nobody has ever learned a lesson by being punished. We know that about our children now. We know that about incarcerated people. But America can't stop trying. Beating people into submission is our favorite solution to every problem. We can't let it go.
