I was able to freelance full time from 2017 to 2020 because of the ACA. My insurance was garbage and expensive ($600/month without the tax credit, $200/month with), but I didn't have to worry about an unforeseen disaster bankrupting me or my family.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: heâd have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.

I'm hard-pressed to think of a non-Jewish Democratic politician who has spoken to Jews with more respect and empathy than Mamdani. The fact that many Jewish establishment orgs are going after him while staying relatively mum on resurgent Nazism is a disaster, both for American Jews and in general.

Iâm Jewish. I lived in New York for a decade. I am very, very concerned about antisemitism. I have no doubt that Zohran Mamdani would fight to protect my life and my rights. I have no doubt the ADL has entirely failed to protect me and my family from fascists. I know where my allegiance lies.

I had some incredibly depressing conversations with older Jews just before the election. One likened Mamdani to Trump lying about Project 2025. They sincerely believe his goal as mayor is to harm Jews.

The open, outright Nazis dominating the GOP are, eh, all good, right? The Musk Sieg Heils are just a misunderstanding. But Mamdani is clearly the problem, according to Jonathan Greenblatt. ADL is declaring itself to be an organization dedicated to bashing Muslims & Palestinians now. Disgusting.
