There may be nothing more exhausting than a three year old kids birthday party! Our granddaughter turned 3 with her moms, incredible supportive devoted friends, wonderful neighbors, and her grandparents and Auntie. This is a lucky kid with everything she needs. All kids should be that lucky.

This was my canine soul mate. We just got each other. Rescued him as a pup - died in my arms 12 years later. He was the goodest of boys. Died in 2019 and I miss him daily.

I like my vet a lot- she’s super chatty- I’m tempted to have lunch with her someday. I want to hear her story. Also she seems kind of lonely.

The dog and I and my emotional support binoculars (husband got me really good ones) walked 3.5 miles today. Much clearer air today . Then to Boston Sunday morn for a certain 3 year old’s birthday party! She wants party theme to be rainbows & The Lion King. She thinks she’ll be Simba on her birthday

I’m preparing myself for the end of my old dog’s life. I’m ready to be without a dog for the first time since 1995 (we have had a series of them) and he’s 15.5 but still- I’ll miss the shaggy little dude.

I was at the vet’s with the dog yesterday,and their office was having a horrible day. I mentioned that so many folks I know were calling this past week “cursed”- just a terrible week for everyone and everyone there said “YES”. I hope this isn’t everywhere and that you’re all having decent weeks!

First time I saw Thompson, I kept looking in the wings for the rest of his band, as clearly it isn't physically possible for one musician and one guitar to make that incredible music. The guy is a magician, never seen anyone else like him.

What should I read next? Preferably fiction. I’ll read any genre of fiction as long as it’s good. Last read Yesteryear & this year have loved Lonesome Dove, North Woods ( Daniel Mason), Vineland (Pynchon), and re read a few old sci fi faves… notably Spin by Robert Charles wilson( read it!) 1/2

Judy Collins and Richard Thompson tonight. Judy is 87- voice is still gorgeous. Richard Thompson a mere lad of 77, didn’t get to play long enough- and again, I watched his hands carefully and still don’t understand how the hell he does that. He can make one guitar sound like six. He’s astounding.

Have I mentioned how cute my granddaughter is recently? Her moms are having a rough time right now- my daughter’s FIL is reaching the end of his life and my DIL is his only kid so it’s rough. I’ve been thinking of them a lot today. Poor GD will be down to just one grandpa soon.

Nolan’s The Odyssey is raves- but it does sound a bit like those biblical epics of my childhood that I kind of hated- the ones that were advertised as having “cast of thousands!”. Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments- they all seemed to star Charlton Heston.

We’re supposed to go to a show in a tent with no AC tonight. I’m not sure sitting in a hot tent with 2000 other folks while there’s an air quality alert sounds not great? I know we can’t get our $$ back, but I’m willing to eat the cost rather than die.

What else can I whine about whilst soothing my aching bones in this warm water?

I live in a neighborhood where all the houses were built in 1978. A neighbor complained about “old house issues”. This is the youngest house we’ve had. First was built in 1880, last one was 1925. I am amused.

I am so achy all the time due to being older than dirt. Am currently in my little inflatable hot tin that I got for a birthday gift. It’s pretty nifty. Big kids blow up pool.

So- the low point of my day- I got some amazing shots of woodpeckers feeding their babies and then realized I had to fucking card in my camera. I’m an idiot. I left it in the laptop. They were incredible shots- like Audobon society perfect. I’ve got no proof of this fact,however. #retiredlife
