About 10 years ago I came across 'fractal dimensionality' as a measure of brain structure. Studying it's utility with healthy aging, clinical populations, and across species has led to 19 papers since then. The most recent paper is now online at Nature Neuroscience! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

It's official!! In recognition of my contributions to higher education--including research methods training, application of learning sciences to other fields, and post-PhD career guidance resource development--I have been awarded Senior Fellow from Advance HE (SFHEA).

Furthermore, both human and AI-assisted teams significantly outperformed AI-led approaches in proposing and implementing comprehensive robustness checks. There was a 25 percentage points difference in proposing robustness checks and a 32 pp difference in implementation.

New research alert! Our study investigates the effectiveness of human-only, AI-assisted, and AI-led teams in assessing the reproducibility of quantitative social science research. We've got some surprising findings!

“Ablation” was originally introduced into AI with the correct sense (removing a component). But in the last 5 years, its meaning has expanded to “sensitivity study”. As a reviewer, I insist on the correct usage.

I will be honest: with Mastodon, what put me off with a lot of UNSAID expectations. It felt like you cannot just write something like here: - What server you’re on matters (each one has own rules) - Adding filters to posts were (sometimes) important (eg if writing about politics or Twitter)

after years of hearing colleagues & processing their arguments, i remain unconvinced that paid peer review is a solution to any of the problems w the publishing system & the publishers. i do believe it would in fact generate new problems & inequities though. for profit publishers *are* the problem.
