throwing in my two cents to the convo i joined comp when s3 dropped and while i do see ways in which this community is better than most, it still has way too many bad apples. i've had teammates kicked for making sexual comments about me, blatantly flirted with when doing pickups, and so much more

idk how much of the discussion on twitter about how comp players treat women and the misogyny in this community has spread here, but a lot of the people i see in replies offering their "support" have also been perpetuating or allowing their friend's misogyny behind closed doors.

a big reason why i stepped back (and hence lost a lot of love of the splatoon community) was because when i was trying to defend women (and myself!!!) behind closed doors, i was constantly shot down people (men) think that because you're nice that they can step all over you. don't let them.
