I don't think you can play chess with a collapsing empire because of non-linearities and cascading feedbacks. There aren't likely next steps so much as cracks and shudders and diversion of energy from one thing to another.

(I've spent my life around artists, and the worry that "what I've made isn't good" is so common. just wild to see the makers of AI models -- which suck up that art and rearrange it to induce murders and suicides -- so confidently declaring "YUP IT'S GOOD!" and clapping the dust off their hands.)

I produce really magical walkabout theater for families w/ kids in the East Bay. Feedback from families who attend is "these experiences are important to us! please do more!" Feedback from funding channels (which are drying up) is tantamount to "these experiences are not important." So perverse.
