TIL: "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" used to be an idiom that meant "That shit is impossible. Wtf." Or something like that. So someone telling you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps is someone telling you to just do the impossible. Every time. Like it's nothing. Fuck em.

This is the single most important advice any creative person needs to hear. There are of course factors such as financial insecurity or mental and physical impediments (spoons ≠ motivation even though people will tell you they are the same) but when you can, do, whether you feel inspired or not.
